I have few heroes. Having a hero is dangerous; idolizing someone sets you up for disappointment, and disillusionment.

For all of his human frailties, for all of his failures as a human being and his shortcomings, this man was able to transcend his biases and his doubt, which he unequivocally had. He believed. I don’t believe what he believed, let that be known, as far as the spiritual world goes. He had so much doubt. He had so much….not fear, but hesitation. However, he believed in the basic decency of the human spirit and the right of every mind to be free. He believed in love, and truth. 

This man is one of my heroes.
